How First Skillet creates its guidance

First Skillet is published by JPDevLabs to help beginner cooks choose a first meal, understand the equipment it needs, and buy a practical amount of food. This policy describes the current collection and its limits.

Recipe status and creation

The initial recipe drafts were created with AI assistance and organized around shared ingredients, basic tools and explicit steps. They have not yet been kitchen-tested. We label that status on recipe pages. Automated checks of amounts, costs and equipment relationships help catch inconsistencies, but cannot establish flavor, texture, cooking time or reliable results.

We do not publish invented testing histories, chef credentials, nutrition figures, ratings or reviews. Food images are illustrative and do not document completed recipe tests. A future tested-recipe claim should identify the actual testing performed; the current collection makes no such claim.

Sources and food handling

Food-handling notes link to the applicable U.S. Food and Drug Administration or U.S. Department of Agriculture guidance. Appliance and cookware instructions, grocery labels and storage directions still matter. Dietary labels describe basic listed ingredients and are not allergy guarantees. Ingredient substitutions can change allergens, storage, texture and cooking behavior.

Prices and purchase estimates

Retailer product pages supply dated reference prices, package sizes and equipment specifications. The source is shown beside the example. Some retrieved pages may be cached. These references are not live prices, product reviews, promises of local stock or one store’s combined shopping basket. No paid placement determines the current equipment references.

The calculator combines shared ingredients before rounding up to whole packages. Ingredient-use cost and first-shop cost answer different questions. Package sizes are fixed references; you can edit prices for your store. Fruit weights and prices per item can vary, and the 255 g drained yield used for each reference can of beans or chickpeas is a planning assumption. Check the final checkout price, package size, tax, delivery and included pieces before buying.

Equipment and portions

Choose recipes for appliances you already have. The planner estimates missing basic tools separately from groceries. Heated recipes use separate original-size batches for extra servings so the suggested pan or bowl is not overloaded. Containers holding food remain occupied; refrigerated and frozen storage requirements are part of the plan. Cleaning supplies and appliance purchases are outside the estimates.

Corrections and changes

Report a possible problem to jpdevlabs@gmail.com, including the page address, the specific amount or instruction, and any relevant source. Confirmed factual issues belong in the underlying recipe, calculation data or source note. A retailer’s changed price can also reflect location, promotion, package or stock differences, so compare the exact product before treating it as a calculation error.

Prices keep their reference dates, and substantial content changes should reflect the work actually done. We do not present an old source as a new check or describe an untested recipe as tested. See About First Skillet and Privacy for the publisher, site funding plans and data practices.
