Prep: 3 minutes. Cooking: 5 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp Neutral cooking oil (5 ml)
  • 2 slices Sliced bread
  • 1 pinch Table salt (0.3 g) — A small pinch; this is an approximate amount.

Equipment and available appliances

  • Stove or cooktop
  • Refrigerator
  • 1 × Microwave-safe bowl or deep glass dish
  • 1 × Fork
  • 1 × Nonstick skillet
  • 1 × Heat-safe spatula or cooking spoon
  • 1 × Measuring cups and spoons
  • 1 × Instant-read food thermometer

Method

  1. Crack the eggs into a bowl, add the salt, and beat with a fork until the color is even. Wash your hands after handling raw egg.
  2. Warm the skillet over medium-low heat and add the oil. Pour in the eggs.
  3. Use a heat-safe spatula to slowly move set egg from the edges toward the center. Continue until fully set, with no liquid egg remaining, and reaching 160°F / 71°C.
  4. Serve with the bread. Wash the raw-egg bowl, fork, and nearby work surface before reusing them.

Helpful notes

  • Use gentle heat; a very hot pan makes eggs dry quickly.
  • The bread is served as-is, so a toaster is not required.
